Kingwood Pines Hospital is a 116 bed facility located in the beautiful residential Kingwood community. We are located about 30 miles northeast of the Houston Medical Center. The hospital provides 24-hour emergency services. We serve children, adolescents, and adults for psychiatric and behavioral health. The hospital also has services in intensive outpatient and partial hospital program services.

Kingwood Pines Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Utilization Review Coordinator. The Utilization Review Coordinator performs admission and continued-stay reviews; position also performs discharge planning to patients.

Key Responsibilities Includes:

  • Performs reviews for appropriateness of admission and continued stay.
  • Serves as liaison with medical staff and other clinical departments.
  • Contacts third-party payers to obtain benefits for admission and continued stay.
  • Appeals inappropriate reimbursement denials.
  • Provides timely and appropriate discharge plans for patients.
  • Maintains documentation of discharge services provided.
  • Keeps psychiatrists and treatment team informed of discharge plans.
  • Attends weekly physician meetings to give/gain information regarding discharge plans of patients.
  • Attends team and therapy meetings; to provide consultation to treatment team.
  • Determines patient discharge needs within managed care counseling.
  • Keeps a data base of referral sources.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: Associate degree or equivalent experience in health care related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years professional experience in a health care setting, preferably inpatient. Minimum of two (2) years experience in UR or Case Management.
  • Licensure: LPC, LMSW, LVN or RN preferred
  • Additional Requirements: Must complete and maintain training in CPR and HWC aggression management, crisis intervention and restraint training. Training may be obtained during first week of employment during new hire orientation.
