As an Experience Strategy (XS) Director, you will quarterback a human-centered approach to translating human empathy and an understanding of the world into meaningful and impactful experiences. As an XS Director, you will lead by understanding the root of client business challenges, framing problems in unexpected ways, and providing inspiration and clarity through thought leadership. Experience strategy is core to the practice, providing leadership across strategy, customer experience, digital strategy, business design and innovation.

XS Directors are expected to manage the investigation, synthesis and business impact of CX efforts. Like all strategists on our team, you’ll be expected to inspire change through innate curiosity, a drive for impact, and an orientation that puts strategy into immediate action.

Responsibilities
  • Consult and advise senior clients to help frame up their problem and encourage broader and bigger thinking
  • Cultivate a deep understanding of the intersection of consumer motivations and client business needs
  • Design and execute proof-of-concept prototypes, Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of designers and developers
  • Execute environment and trends analysis, translating insights into client-specific “so-what’s”
  • Orchestrate creative workshops with clients and senior leaders to drive strategic discussions and alignment to setup design opportunities and frameworks
  • Design the business rationale for CX efforts and architect the roadmap to ensure strategy connections to action
  • Lead key client deliverables and work independently from experience strategy leadership
  • Be a thinker and a doer. An innovator and a visionary. A structured advisor (internal and external) with a creative imagination.
  • Partner with Account Management, Technology and Creative to grow the business
  • Write up design research plans to immerse yourself and the design team into the lives of users and the experience itself. Visually map out a user’s journey with highlights of key pain points, unmet needs, and unique opportunities
  • Go into the field to observe and talk with consumers, experts, and unusual inspiration subjects
  • Translate research discovery into macro insights that ignite creative concept development and idea generation.
  • Make prototypes and simulations of experiences to help test, demonstrate, and communicate the magic of an idea
  • Produce user experience deliverables (strategy plans, site maps, annotated wireframes, content analysis documents, user flows, high-level requirements, and analysis, prototypes, etc.)
  • Serve as the user and client advocate within project teams to ensure that deliverables align with proposed strategic recommendations
  • Conduct facilitated group meetings to gather details on business requirements and steer towards facilitating customer-centric decision making
  • Stay up to date on evolving trends, technologies and practices in UX and usability
  • Provide ongoing communication and status updates to business sponsors and stakeholders of all active projects within the UX spectrum.

  • Ability to construct a complete business case considering resources needed and anticipated outcomes
  • Strong relationship management abilities to effectively interact and influence at all levels of the organization, work independently and as part of a larger, cross-functional team
  • Innovative and strategic thinker, including a track record of complex and creative problem solving and comfort with technology
  • Proficient computer literacy in Microsoft Office, in design tools and digital technologies
  • Outstanding oral and written communications skills and the ability to confidently interact with senior management
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
  • Requirements/Qualifications
  • 7-10 years of overall research, strategy, or planning experience with at least 5 years of strategic leadership experience with clients
  • Experience working on the product and service development side of design versus the marketing side
  • Strong storytelling skills – able to create a meaningful and compelling narrative that sets up an opportunity or idea in a powerful way
  • Degree in Information Design, Interaction Design, Computer Science, Information Science, Human Computer Interaction, or a related field or equivalent work experience. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel both domestic and international
